Audio Video Technologies, Destin, FL

Th
is month's dealer spotlight shines on Audio Video Technologies located in Destin, Florida. Under the guidence of Jay Kropneick and Stan Zawisza, these technicians faced many challenges in using a VisionArt application for a 40" Sony KV-40XBR850 Tube television that the homeowner wanted recessed above their fireplace in a 6,500 sq. ft. Penthouse Condo overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

All VisionArt artwork has been formatted to be used with plasma monitors without speakers. VisionArt can accomodate plasmas with speakers attached or even a center channel speaker, but an additional upcharge is required.

This application was not a traditional VisionArt installation. An additional upcharge was required by VisionArt as much reformatting was involved
. A non-plasma unit with the aspect ratio of 4:3 was certainly above the average custom installation job.

The home
owner had to select an image that could be cropped and reformatted to fit the aspect ratio of 4:3. The art selction of
J
amaican Beach by Donnell Mai was chosen. The graphics company was given the diemnsions by VisionArt and the croppping and reformatting was done and a proof sent to Audio Video Technologies for the homeowner's approval.

The homeowner not only had to select an image that could be reformatted (not all images can be reformatted), but Audio Video Tehcnologies had to coordinate the approval process between the homeowner and the graphics company. Once the approval was given by the homeowener, the custom VisionArt unit was fabricated and shipped.

With installation above a gas fireplace, Audio Video Technologies had the option of a Phillips Pronto or an Elan Via to interface the VisionArt with the
surround sound system.

The installation went off without a hitch. After careful planning by Stan, VisionArt, and the cabinet maker, this unit fit into place with no problems. "Believe me, at $9,500 for the VisionArt unit alone, I prayed for many nights that everything would go well", stated Stan Zawisza.

"The hardest part was getting a 350 pound television into the hole without killing anyone. We solved this dilemna by purchasing the proper lift which that the job easy.

The rest is, as they say is history.........
